ELLE Japan: David Miskin on What Moves People in the Age of AI

Creative director David Miskin — the mind behind campaigns for Lamborghini, Netflix, and Marriott International — sat down with L'Officiel Japan to share his philosophy on what makes creativity truly resonate today.

Now based in Japan and serving as Chief Creative Director at FHG Hotels, Miskin is redefining hospitality through his hotel brand Seven x Seven, built around the concept of "self hospitality" — the freedom to stay on your own terms, at your own rhythm.

From learning to say "No" to protect creative vision, to finding daily inspiration in the coexistence of modern Tokyo and ancient temples, Miskin believes that authentic expression is never manufactured — it's lived. "Information and technology are just tools," he says. "It's always people who move people." In a world overflowing with content and shaped by AI, he argues that only creativity carrying genuine story, humanity, and sincerity will find its way into someone's heart.
